Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long does it take?
A: It all depends on what you need and when you need it.  One project may take one day while another may take one month.  Forty photos obviously will not take as long as 140.  I like to be safe and say two weeks from beginning to end.  Please don't hesitate to ask if you need a presentation quickly.  A slight cost increase if it's  needed in four or fewer day.

Q: How much time does the customer need to put into it?
A: It depends on the project and how much say you want to have.  You could tell me every little detail from beginning to end, or you could just hand me the photos and say "Do what you think is best."  As long as you have the time to put the pictures in order, think of the music and words, then you can do it. If you'd like, you can see a rough draft and are free to make any changes. Over all, a few hours is all you'll need to put into the project.  This is your keepsake and I want to make it the best it can be.

Q: What if I have different groups of pictures?
A:  If you would like more than one group, the DVD will include a main menu with scene selection.
Example: Sample Menu

Q:
Can you do more than simple photo touch-ups?
A: Yes.  Aside from the simple scratches or spots I take off, or colors I  adjustments for free, I can take bigger parts off or add parts to photos at your request, for a very small charge of  $2 - $5 depending on how much work is required per photo.

Q : What is Scanning and who needs it?
A :
Scanning is "the process of translating photographs into a digital form that can be
recognized by a computer."  The machine needed to do this is called a 'Scanner'.

So let’s say you have shoe boxes full of old photographs that you would like to use for                          your DVD. You would then SCAN  the photos  - the process of getting them onto your                        computer. You then e-mail them to me, or put them onto a CD that you give to me.
Now, I so much want to make this as easy as possible for you so if you find all this too hard,
or too time consumming, feel free to hand me those photos and I'll do the scanning  for you.

      .25 cents per photo.   - example .25 X 50 = $12.50 - Think of all the time saved !

Q :  Can I put more than just pictures or videos in the slide show?

A :  Yes. Other types of media can be used in your slide show. This could include items such         as ticket stubs, announcements, newspaper articles, drawings, and cards, or just                 about anything that can be digitized on a flatbed scanner.   Normally 8"x10" size is the         limit but if you sense it’s a must to have something bigger, I’ll see what I can do.
(scan it in pieces with my attempt to join the pieces together on the computer)

If you can scan all things on your own, great. But if you’re not too sure about the               scanning process, it may be best to have me do the scanning for you, thus ensuring             the best quality possible for your project.

Q:  Can I request to have only parts of a song put on?
A:  Yes.  I just need to know what parts to use.  You can even have more fun. Maybe you want the             same part on the song playing over and over again, or replace a part of the song with your own             words. How about having the theme song get a bit more quiet while listening to the video.  If the             song is not quite long enough for all your photos, I can usually repeat a part to make it longer                 without it being noticed.

Q :  Can't I create my own slide show at home?

A :  Yes. Many people are interested in the art of home-based videography and digital                 imaging. Most  computers today even come with tools that are capable of creating a           digital video production. However, they tend to be rather simple and don’t really allow
you to produce the quality of production that you will receive from Memories In Motion.
If you were to purchase a program that could do more, it takes so much time to figure         how it works and most people don’t have that time.

I understand these are only a few of the many questions.
I'd be glad to help you with any more you might have so
feel free to call me, or e-mail your questions my way.
